Getting started

Sorting out the mechanics of this blog.  Will then have a proper start to observing the goings-on in the wacky world of global sport sponsorship.

I think global sport is rather self-defining – from this observer’s view it means the Olympics, Formula One motor racing and soccer.  I ought to include cycling as well, but as that sport suffers through the years-long doping and management challenges, I’ll leave it on the side for now.  Let’s hope Formula One stops its own implosion before it’s too late.

I hope this blog will truly be interactive – that you will be intrigued enough to reply to various posts and to post your own info-nuggets and observations.  Let me know if there are topics you’d like to see discussed, or bring them up yourself!

I’ll seek to focus on the business side of sport and not the actual events themselves.  But given the inherent drama of the Olympics, Formula One and soccer, the occassional comment about an event will sneak in.
